This One’s Got A River In It.

This weekend, the inimitable Mike Devine and I arranged and recorded this little number. I think we’ve both been missing Virginia, and even though this tune isn’t technically about Virginia, it’s evocative enough of our homestate that it was the “interim” state song in 2006 (thanks, Wikipedia).

Our apartment band, CHICKENSH*IT, is ordinarily a three-piece ensemble, but since Charlotte is snowed away in Maine, we took the liberty of using her radiator for river-percussion.

One of Pete Seeger’s versions (with singalong!):

The song goes out with love to my mom.
