Sidebar from a New York Times article about Carl Paladino:

I was expecting some extreme-type homosexuals to pop out of the pie & start a parade.  I wanted gyrations.  I wanted streamers & Speedos & babies with the gay already in their eyes.  Babies doing vogue.  Babies dressed in leather grinding their fleshy baby elbows against other babies & gumming down pie that smells like cinnamon & the country & home ownership.

Way to create suspense in the narrative & then not deliver, Martin Smolin.
