The “[blank] of [blank]” Construction

Widely recognized among poets and poetry readers, the “[blank] of [blank]” construction is a trick in which the writer takes compound terms with which we’ve grown comfortable—say, stabbing spree—& breaks it into its parts, defamiliarizing it so we will take notice.  Another thing it is is ridiculous.
