All the New Songs Have the Water in Them

Ok, so this one simply mentions the shore in the first line.  I just love this song’s epic throwback quality.  Someone’s been listening to some Joni Mitchell, CSN&Y, etc.

Water-related band names count too, I guess.  It should be clear by now that this post is just an excuse for me to listen to songs I like.

I’m sure there are others.  Tell me about them.

Always interesting to know what’s in and on your mind Laura

La Mer by Debussy is pretty great. Not trying to be high-falutin’ – studied classical piano and have a need for it. Another good one by Debussy – the engulfed cathedral – he had a vision of a cathedral rising out of the ocean and then sinking back into it. Feel such a correspondence between writing and music – want my words to feel like notes, or at least my lines and sentences. Want to get adrenaline pumping the way music does.

On the aquaeous theme, have you read The Waves by Virginia Woolf? It’s amazingly beautiful. The last book she wrote.
